The Gluon Distribution in Hadrons
We consider the effects of hadron size and quark composition on the distribution of gluons in mesons and baryons. Coherence effects in the color singlet bound state eliminate the usual quark-mass infrared singularity. The color cancellations are important for all x gluon unless the gluon transverse momentum is large compared to the inverse hadron size. Using a simple model for the meson bound s...
متن کاملgluon distribution at HERA
We discuss corrections to the Leading-LogQ relationships between the gluon density g(x,Q) and FL(x,Q ), ∂FT (x,Q )/∂ logQ in the HERA range of large 1 x . We find that the above quantities probe the gluon density g(x,QT,L) at Q 2 T,L = CT,LQ , with the Q-rescaling factors CT ≈ 2.2 and CL ≈ 0.42. The possibility of treating charm as an active flavour is critically re-examined. E-mail: kph154@zam...
متن کاملProton Structure Functions and the Gluon Distribution
Recent experimental results from H1 and ZEUS are presented with respect to their contribution to the understanding of the inner structure of the proton. With the large 1997 statistics, the proton structure function F 2 has been measured with remarkable precision over a wide kinematic range. At high values of Q 2 , eeects due to the Z 0 and W bosons have been observed. Furthermore, new results o...
متن کاملReactions and Polarized Gluon Distribution
To test the model of the polarized gluon distribution ∆G(x,Q) in the proton, we propose a new process, diffractive Λc productions in polarized pp reactions, which will be observed in the forthcoming RHIC and also the proposed HERA-~ N experiments. The spin correlation between the target proton and the Λc produced in the target fragmentation region largely depends on ∆G(x,Q) and thus, the proces...
